Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare DLC Is Timed PS4 Exclusive

Call of Duty developers Infinity Ward are set to debut a gritty reimagining of the original Modern Warfare trilogy with the simply-titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, announcing the game with a spectacular reveal trailer. All seems to indicate a new direction for the series, especially with the inclusion of cross-play and no season pass this time around. However, it appears at least one mainstay is staying put for the rebooted installment: timed DLC exclusivity on PlayStation 4.

By the looks of the game’s debuting footage, Modern Warfare indeed appears to have been scooped up for another timed-exclusive DLC deal for the PS4, the trailer’s ending moments breaking the news to players. Those who missed this tidbit in the original reveal aren’t mistaken, as the exclusivity was revealed by a follow-up trailer uploaded by the official PlayStation account. Check it out below.

While PlayStation 4 owners are undoubtedly pleased to see favor swing their way once more, those on PC and Xbox One are once again poised to play the waiting game with DLC content. Though upon review of the fine print, it appears non-Sony users won’t have too long before content eventually comes their way, with only 7 days separating PS4 from the rest of Modern Warfare players.

This timed-exclusivity is surely a more comfortable wait than the month-long ordeals of previous Call of Duty titles, though obviously not the most ideal setup for everyone. Fans of Call of Duty are likely unsurprised by the the return of “First on PS4,” as Sony has had an exclusivity deal in place with Activision since back in 2015. Before that it was Microsoft who had first dibs on add-on content, having kept limited-time exclusivity for a number of years on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare releases for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 25th.

What do you think? Are you bummed to have another PS4 exclusivity deal for Modern Warfare, or are you happy to benefit from the early DLC?
