Classic Disney Reality Show ‘Bug Juice’ is Making a Return
Summer always brings back memories of childhood, trying to squeeze as much fun as possible into that short break between school years, and one thing that was a must in the late 90’s was sitting around with friends watching Bug Juice. Now the Disney channel’s reality show is making a come-back some time in 2018.
Bug Juice, which is camp slang for juice made from a mix of drink powders, was the Disney channel’s first unscripted show and premiered in 1998. It followed 20 kids from a different Summer camp each season and showed viewers what the kids experienced there. The first season took place at Camp Waziyatah in Waterford, ME and the revival will bring fans back there for the brand new season.
The Disney channel says that the new season of Bug Juice will, “capture the authentic adventures of a group of kids age 10-12 as they head to summer camp, join in exciting and challenging outdoor activities, establish tight bonds with bunkmates and create unforgettable memories.” Susette Hsiung, who is the Executive Vice President of Disney Channels Worldwide, said in a statement,
“Bug Juice took viewers on a journey of adventure and self-discovery. Now, nearly two decades later, we are thrilled to be back in Maine at Camp Waziyatah with the creative team from Evolution Media and many of the same crew members who produced the original series.”
The revival is in production right now and will supposedly release sometime in early 2018. Were you a fan of the original Bug Juice? Are you happy that it is coming back all these years later?
