Kingdom Hearts III Expansions, New DLC Confirmed By Director
It’s been a little over a month now since the long-awaited sequel of 14 years launched for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but Kingdom Hearts III has had time to nestles itself into the hearts of those that hold the franchise dear to them. Sora and his friends have evolved immensely since the original title’s release in 2002 and the game shows the tremendous character development in our young protagonist and all those around him. While this might be the last of the mainline journey for Sora, the game’s director confirms expansions are on their way.
An influential hand in the design and direction of the series and his role in the Final Fantasy franchise, game director Tetsuya Nomura confirms Kingdom Hearts 3 has downloadable content in the plans. In a recent interview with Dengeki PlayStation, Nomura discussed the future of the beloved series. Within the year, however, the studio plans on releasing free and paid DLC for the third mainline entry.
In other words, Kingdom Hearts III will have post-launch releases with no cost to current owners. As for paid expansions, it will take the Square Enix team a reasonable amount of time before they’re ready to announce more content. Nomura and developers are currently working on a DLC, which they hope to reveal within the year. As of right now, however, it is nowhere near finished enough to disclose publicly. It won’t be long before it flies by, so it’s a good time as any to explore the various worlds Kingdom Hearts III has to offer!
