Life is Strange was a massive hit for Dontnod Entertainment and has rocketed them into the spotlight as a developer to watch out for. The studio also had two projects shown at this year’s E3 in the form of new title Twin Mirror, an adventure game due in 2019, and The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, a free prequel episode to Life is Strange 2. While these announcements certainly were treats for folks who enjoyed the studio’s previous work, there was one question fans were left asking,”When will we hear about Life is Strange 2?”

Well, it seems like there’s some awesome news since fans will not have to wait long. Dontnod released a video on their YouTube channel that announced the release date of the first episode for the anticipated sequel this morning:

Life is Strange 2’s first episode will be released on September 27th, 2018. It is highly recommended that fans play the free The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, as choices made in this prequel episode will have consequences in the main series. You can play through the young superhero’s story on June 26th.

We don’t currently have any details on what platforms Life is Strange 2 will be available on, but it’s assumed that they would be the same that this free episode is available on: Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. It should be noted however that Life is Strange did receive releases on Mac, Linux, iOS and will come soon to Android in July. So the door is still open to whether or not we see these episodes on other platforms!

This is no doubt an exciting time for fans of narrative-driven games, Telltale capped off the second season of its excellent Batman series a couple months ago and the final season of The Walking Dead series will be releasing its first episode in August.  There will certainly be a lot to look forward to in the months to come!
