Halo is undoubtedly a familiar franchise among the Xbox crowd, and the news of this popular series continues to mount up for fans world-wide. In between releases and patches, there was a fan-created game just for PC and a new trailer is here to show you just what it is made of. Halo Installation 01 is a tribute of sorts to the series that draws inspiration from various games in the franchise. The creators put together a cinematic trailer that can be enjoyed below!

The video above gives viewers a sense of what the developers are bringing to the table. Installation 01 will feature both Spartans and Elites that look much the same as fans might recall. Of note is that many of the features in the trailer suggest that much of the game’s inspiration was pulled from Halo 3. With weapons like spike grenades and detachable turrets and similar character models, the game may be picking up in some ways where the last PC game left off.

According to the creators of Installation 01, they also pulled inspiration from Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved, and Halo 2. The website features pages for tracking stats, sharing files, and even features gameplay video. While no release date has been announced, they developers are definitely showing their work.

Before fans brace for the inevitable cease and desist letter, the developers came prepared. According to the creators of Installation 01, they have paid careful attention to Microsoft’s usage rules, refraining from ripping content from any Halo games. Instead, they have designed assets from scratch or purchased them from the Unity asset store.

Installation 01 is considered the first ring in the Halo Array created by the Forerunners and is farthest from the Ark. It will no doubt be interesting to see what kind of story the game will have for players to explore. When it does release, Installation 01 will be available on PC for Mac, Windows, and Linux operating systems. The game is expected to be free to play, which should come as no surprise.
