X-Men Family Drama TV Show Holds First Cast Reading – Receives Working Title
It was recently announced that True Blood‘s Stephen Moyer will be joining the cast of the upcoming X-Men family drama TV show. He and Amy Acker will be taking on the roles of Reed and Kate Stewart, human parents that have to go on the run in order to protect their mutant children. This will lead them to an underground resistance led by Sam(Blair Redford).
The X-Men family drama will also see Jamie Chung as mutant Blink, Emma Dumont as mutant Polaris, Percy Hynes White, Sean Teale, and Natalie Alyn Lind. Thanks to a recent tweet by longtime X-Men franchise producer Lauren Shuler Donner, we now have a glimpse of what the cast looks like together while sitting around a table and reading for the pilot episode. The tweet brought forth a couple of things that were unknown prior to the first cast reading of the show. She called it Gifted, which was thought to be the show’s name. However, since the tweet above was posted, Entertainment Weekly has discovered that it is simply “the current working title” for the upcoming X-Men family drama TV show. With Professor Xavier constantly referring to mutants as “gifted”, it would be easy to see how they could make that the name of the show.
The other unknown that was revealed was the fact that Joseph Morgan was sitting next to Jamie Chung. What makes this interesting is that it has not been announced that Morgan would be in the cast for the upcoming show. Fans of the actor, best know for his work in The Originals, might be a little let down to hear that he “was merely filling in for the read-through,” according to EW. The pilot for the X-Men family drama TV show has been written by Matt Nix, who is also executive producing alongside Donner, Jeph Loeb, Jim Chory, and Simon Kinberg. It is also being executive produced and directed by X-Men: Apocalypse‘s Bryan Singer. The show was ordered by Fox, but there is no word on when it will air.
