Three More RPGs are Incoming for the 3DS From Atlus – A New Etrian Odyssey Included

Fans of the latest generation of the Nintendo handheld have three new titles coming to their 3DS soon, according to a recent announcement made by the publisher Atlus. With the Nintendo Direct recently focusing heavily on Pokemon, it’s a good time to show fans that they have more than just the one franchise to look forward to.

The first title set for launch is Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth. Those who are familiar with the Odyssey series will once again get to enjoy the first-person dungeon crawler gameplay in hopes of reaching the mystical Yggdrasil Tree. Teaming up with different party members, the exploration for the latest title will be more intricate than ever before. The maps within the game can be utilised through the system’s touch screen, and strategy comes into play when using the implemented cartography system.

The next two titles launched are more expansions than new, but still just as exciting for fans of the original games. First up we have Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux. Fans of the original DS version will be able to enjoy a newly introduced character by the name of Alex. New demons, new dungeons, and new endings – the re-vamp is a great way for players of the original to rehash an old favourite while still having something new to look forward to.

Rounding out the three titles announced, Radiant Historia from the DS is getting a re-vamp of its own – Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology. New voices overs and new art represented in the play-style are among the tweaks to this port, alongside new story content as an alternative timeline.

Another feature added to Radiant Historia is that of two new modes brought into the game: Perfect and Append. Perfect mode is in place for those who want to rush immediately into the new story content, perfect for those already incredibly familiar with the original narrative. The Append mode gives new and veteran players a chance to experience the tale as a whole with the original DS storyline in addition to the new content.

Each of the mentioned titles will be retaining for $39.99. Etrian Odyssey V is looking at a Fall release, with Strange Journey and Radiant Historia looking at a more vague timeframe with a simple “early 2018” timestamp.
