System Shock Remake Concept Art, Screenshots, And More Shared In Latest Update
The upcoming System Shock remake from Nightdive Studios has shared an update with fans and Kickstarter backers alike. The latest bounty of information contains a handful of screenshots that show off the beautiful progress that is being made as well as some wonderful concept art.
“We’re busy reaching our September milestone which we’ve dubbed the, “Adventure Alpha” as it will be reminiscent of the original game with the difficulty set to zero,” said Nightdive in their Kickstarter update. “You’ll be able to freely traverse Citadel Station without the presence of enemies, pick up items, listen to audio logs, read emails and complete the game’s objectives from start to finish.”
“We were expecting to have all the levels blocked out by September, but with no other details…however, Jonathan has been able to apply the textures from System Shock to Daniel’s BSP giving us an insightful look into the original game,” they continued. “The textures have been modified to take advantage of PBR rendering and lighting placed to mimic the original.” Check out the screenshots below:
It is mentioned that the textures used are original and “not the final art.” They said, “Not only will it make the Adventure Alpha more interesting but it will provide the team with a blueprint of how to approach updated art, lighting, level design, etc.”
Nightdive also shared a few images that show some concept art for the upcoming remake. “Robb has been working very hard on re-conceptualizing and revisiting some of the common items and elements on board the station.” These images can be found below:
