New Star Citizen Gameplay Trailer Highlights What the Game Can Really Do (VIDEO)

Star Citizen

Cloud Imperium Games appears to be doing everything within their power to ensure Star Citizen is exactly what they, along with fans, want it to be. With over 1.6 million “Star Citizens” and nearly $139 million raised from crowd-funding ventures, Star Citizen is putting itself into a position to either be completely out of this world, or to be less than stellar, much akin to its direct competition, the space flight/survival/mining simulator, No Man’s Sky. Both titles have been hyped to no end leading up to their respective release dates. No Man’s Sky, of course, was released earlier this year, while Star Citizen still has a while to go before it goes gold. Until then, we’ll have to sustain ourselves on the teaser trailers, images, and gameplay of others. Better yet, if you’ve got a capable PC, and feel like putting your trust in something that is still in its Alpha stage, you can always purchase a “game package” and take to the skies!

In a new gameplay trailer released by YouTuber, MKIceAndFire, we see a snippet of new features coming to the Alpha 2.6 build of Star Citizen. After the beginning snippet is finished, we get taken through a wonderful video of gameplay where MKIceAndFire and company are preparing to engage in the shenanigans of space thievery. The only problem is that it’s MKIceAndFire’s ship that is under siege. It wouldn’t be if it weren’t for him issuing the challenge to his friend, a fellow citizen of the stars. Needless to say, MKIceAndFire gets what’s coming to him in the entertaining and funny, albeit seemingly scripted, gameplay video. Don’t have time to watch the video below? Here are the highlights of what’s new and updated in Star Citizen’s Alpha 2.6:

  • 48 ships to fly
  • 100 sextillion kilometers to explore
  • 17 known missions

Ways to Play

  • Persistent Universe
  • Hangars
  • Battle Royale
  • Vanduul Swarm
  • Free Flight
  • Racing
  • Star Marine
    • 2 Game Modes
      • Elimination
      • Last Stand
    • 2 Maps
      • Echo 11
      • OP Station Demien

After the highlights and updates trailer at the beginning of the video, MKIceAndFire takes over and begins to play the game. He teams up with a few friends as they are all picking out their armor, some of which is new. When they have all gathered their armor, they head to their ships to take flight. One ship that stands out, and is the ship made mention of earlier, is MKIceAndFire’s Caterpillar. They take flight and the video goes to the opposition’s side.

Once the video is following the opposition, they begin going through their preparations to essentially seize the Caterpillar. They stock up on weapons, ammo, and everything they need to execute the heist. They even get into a fight or two with some NPC’s. After they take flight, and happen upon the almighty Caterpillar, shenanigans ensue. As I mentioned earlier, the video does have a scripted feel to it, but it’s all in good fun, is highly entertaining, and it really shows off just how beautiful this game is. Needless to say, Star Citizen just may be nailing it. It has not been announced when Star Citizen will be officially arriving for Windows and Linux, but we cannot wait! Check out the video below:
