We already know that the next installment in the massively popular Gears of War franchise is set to arrive at some point this year. However, we’ll soon be able to learn what exactly takes place between Gears of War 4 and the upcoming Gears 5, as a new novel has officially been announced.

The official Gears of War Twitter account recently revealed the news via a glorious tweet that is sure to excite fans. Gears of War: Ascendance is coming!

We are proud to announce Gears of War: Ascendance, a brand new Gears novel from New York Times bestselling author Jason M. Hough and @TitanBooks!

Picking up from the end of Gears 4, the story of Ascendance leads directly into Gears 5 and will be available later this year. pic.twitter.com/IL2Pk3LTN0

The upcoming Gears of War novel will be written by New York Times bestselling author Jason M. Hough and published by Titan Books. For those not in the know, Titan Books is known for other video game novelizations such as Halo, Mass Effect, and several others.
