League Of Legends’ K/DA Returns With New Song “The Baddest” (VIDEO)

Apart from the success of its MOBA offerings, League of Legends has also grown in profile due to the success of its varying musical efforts. Far and away the biggest group to spawn from the Riot Games Music is K/DA, a virtual K-pop ensemble consisting of glamorous renditions of characters from the game: Ahri, Evelynn, Kai’Sa, and Akali. Having created pure gold with 2018’s POP/STARS, K/DA is now due for a comeback beginning with a triumphant new track called “The Baddest.”

Teasing a return over the last few days, fans were surely over the moon with hype by the time the groups’ new single officially debuted on YouTube. Re-assembling real-life artists SOYEON and MIYEON of K-pop group (G)I-DLE, the likes of BeaMiller and Wolftyla also join the K/DA gang for the much anticipated new song. The latter two’s addition to the band is a change-up from the original POP/STARS lineup, which featured musicians Madison Beer and Jaira Burns as Evelynn and Kai’Sa respectively.

When the track premiered in 2018, POP/STARS was immediately popular with both fans as well as newcomers to the League of Legends brand. The song’s animated music video climbed to over 100 million views after only a few weeks on YouTube, a figure that has since skyrocketed to over 366 million as of writing. The K/DA offering also made a considerable impact on music charts, heading to the top of both the iTunes K-Pop and Billboard World Digital charts during the month of its debut.

After nearly two years away, fans appear to be just as excited as ever for the group’s comeback track, with the official lyric video for “The Baddest” currently standing at 7.7 million views only 24 hours after going live. Not stopping there, K/DA looks to be accompanying their hot new single with an EP of new songs set to be released later this year. Little is currently known about this upcoming mini-album, but Riot Games Music head Toa Dunn teased some “surprises” in store for fans in a recent statement.

“Ever since K/DA premiered their explosive track POP/STARS at the 2018 League of Legends World Championships, fans always ask what’s next for the group,” said Dunn (via Forbes). “We can’t wait for everyone to hear the new track today, followed by the EP later in the year, which is packed with tons of surprises for League of Legends and K/DA fans to enjoy.”
