Halo Infinite Release Window “Down To A Few Weeks,” Says Xbox Boss

Halo Infinite

Ever since the game was delayed last year, Halo Infinite has been shaping up to be a vastly interesting new adventure for series hero Master Chief. By the looks of footage so far, developer 343 Industries is aiming to capture the feel of the original Halo: Combat Evolved, while also laying down a supportive assortment of modern features to keep the forthcoming experience fresh. While fans expect to see the new entry released sometime in Holiday 2021, it appears Halo Infinite may now be circling a solid release date.

As revealed with the Dropped Frames podcast (H/T ResetEra), Xbox boss Phil Spencer was asked why a release date has yet to materialize for Halo Infinite. According to Spencer, “Holiday 2021” remains unchanged because 343 is still fine-tuning the “timing” of everything, and the team doesn’t want to announce a date they aren’t sure they can deliver. While there isn’t an “exact day” in mind, the Xboss teased they’ve narrowed it down to a “three, four-week range.”

“We know kind of our range in the three, four-week range,” Phil Spencer said. “We don’t have yet the exact day. There’s some other things with some other game timing that we’re trying to look at. We’ll have better clarity over the summer. But this isn’t a months thing, this is just down to a few weeks.”

“Instead of picking this date and having to move it by a week, which at this point would feel like a fail – we don’t want to do that– let’s wait until we’re really solid on what the date is. The team is very committed to Holiday. We feel good about that.”

Halo Infinite

Though we still don’t know when the game plans to release, Halo Infinite has been painting a pretty intriguing picture over the past several months. This past E3 notably offered a new peek at the single-player campaign, which appears to involve a new iteration of Cortana, as well as a grand gameplay debut for the game’s free-to-play multiplayer component. As a few months exist between now and the year-end “holiday” celebrations, there’s sure to be even more revealed before we land on a release date.

Halo Infinite is scheduled to release Holiday 2021 for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
