Evil Dead Video Game: Bruce Campbell Returning As Ash Williams

Evil Dead Video Game

When Starz gave popular show ‘Ash vs. Evil Dead’ the axe earlier this year, Bruce Campbell also announced that he was officially retiring from the titular role. Having played Ash Williams since the first film from 1981, Campbell has brought life to the character in many ways. However, even though he will no longer be appearing on screen, we’ll be getting more Ash from the actor in an upcoming Evil Dead video game.

Speaking with Bloody Disgusting, Campbell revealed that he isn’t exactly done with the iconic character just yet. When asked about his stance on retirement when it comes to video games, he said, “Oh no no, that’s different.” Campbell continued:

I have previous obligations I have to fulfill. They are doing a video game. A whole immersive kind of dealio. I’ll be Ash for that, because I wouldn’t want someone else’s voice hamming it up.”

Naturally, he wasn’t ready to deal out all of the glorious details that fans desire, but it’s now out there for all of us to speculate over. How very not groovy, Bruce. Either way, throwing “immersive kind of dealio” out there could point to a VR experience. Honestly, carrying around your boomstick in one hand and having a chainsaw are the other in virtual reality sounds like all sorts of a good time.

The most recent Evil Dead video games to be released were Army of Darkness: Defense and Evil Dead: The Game, which both came out on mobile devices back in 2011. Whether the upcoming title will be a return to iOS and Android, a VR entry, or a full-blown game across multiple platforms remains to be seen. Whatever the case may be, we’re excited to see what comes of it.
