Ed Boon Hints Watchmen Characters Might Be in Injustice 2

Injustice 2 Watchmen

NetherRealm Studios is hard at work on the sequel to their DC fighter, Injustice: Gods Among Us. Aptly named Injustice 2, the game is due out some time in 2017, but Creative Director Ed Boon is using Twitter to get the rumors going about the possible roster of playable characters.

Most recently, Boon tweeted a poll asking if Injustice fans would like to see characters from the critically acclaimed graphic novel, The Watchmen

Yes, Mr. Boon. Yes we do. Who wouldn’t want to see a slobberknocker fight between Batman and Rorschach, Superman and Dr. Manhattan, or The Comedian and Deathstroke? Any Watchmen character would fit nicely into the feel of the Injustice games. We’re hoping that this is a hint, as opposed to Ed Boon savagely trolling us.

This isn’t the first time Boon has tweeted possible characters for the upcoming title. As fans of the first game will know, aside from the main roster of DC heroes and villains, NetherRealm Studios also threw in Mortal Kombat’s Skorpion as a DLC (Downloadable Content) character. Boon recently also posted a poll asking which Mortal Kombat (MK) character we’d like to see in the sequel.

Over half of the votes went in favor of the icy ninja, Subzero. Furthermore, Boon also posted a poll asking which non-MK character fans would like to see as a special guest on the roster. The choices were Spawn, Hellboy, Terminator, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

As of right now, the only confirmed characters for the game are Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Gorilla Grodd, Blue Beetle, Flash, Aquaman, Atrocitus, Deadshot, and Harley Quinn. In the coming months, we can expect more character reveals as well as new stages and those mind blowing finishing moves we’ve come to expect from NetherRealms.

Who do you hope makes the roster in Injustice 2? Which is your favorite Watchmen? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned with DFTG for all your gaming news.
