Archer Will No Longer Air on FX for New Season – Opting for Sister Network Instead
Deadline reported FX’s plans for the move earlier today that new episodes of the popular animated show Archer will no longer air on FX, instead moving to its comedy-focused sister network FXX. Fans without short memory spans will remember that the show was supposed to move to FXX for its previous season, but the animation ultimately aired on FX as a final call. The move to FXX is part of the channel’s push to broadcast more animated content, demonstrated by the channel’s recent 600-episode marathon of The Simpsons.
FX Networks COO, Chuck Saftler, had this to say:
“Archer is an awesome addition to the growing slate of original comedies on FXX, where it will join It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Man Seeking Woman and You’re the Worst. Adam Reed, Matt Thompson and Floyd County continue to make one of the funniest shows on television, and it’s great to see them earn the awards and acclaim that comes with one of the most loyal and avid fan bases in the industry.”
Archer‘s new season will revolve on the title character’s search for the person who killed his partner in 1947 Los Angeles. Things escalate (as they tend to do) when Archer and his team are caught in a power struggle with L.A.’s criminal underbelly. That, and there’s probably a fart joke or two we can expect. It’s still Archer after all.
Archer will begin it’s 8th season in spring of 2017. The show is renewed up until season 10, where the series is planned to end and there has been no announcements relaying that the plan for the season closer has changed?
