Y: The Last Man TV Series May Be In Development

From the creator of the award-winning Saga series, Brian K. Vaughan has done it yet again with Y: The Last Man and a television series may very well be in the works. According to reports, FX ordered the pilot episode for the critically-acclaimed graphic novels to be titled “Y” alongside Michael Green, producer of American Gods, Logan, Gotham and many others. If all is successful, the greenlit process will involve show-running partner, Melina Matsoukas (Insecure), and the one and only Vaughan.

Y: The Last Man follows the journey of the last surviving male mammal on Earth, a reckless and poetic son and brother named Yorick Brown. He must traverse a world where only women exist and explore the ideas of “gender, race, class and survival” despite being the last individual with a Y chromosome; hence the titular reference. Well, him and his pet male Capuchin, Ampersand.

Yorick must learn to survive and find out what makes him excluded from the plague that doomed males. There are Amazonian inspired militias, astronauts, the Israeli army and other obstacles that threaten the goal of resurrecting the male sex. Unfortunately for those involved with his plight, he’s the only biological key.

Y: The Last Man is published by DC Comics imprint, Vertigo, created by Brian K. Vaughan and illustrator Pia Guerra. FX acquired the rights in 2015, so for fans of the author or the series, here’s to hoping a pilot ends up working out.
