Neopets Animated TV Series Currently Under Production

Since 1999, Neopets began an online gaming sensation across diverse age groups. More than 20 years later, it continues to stand as thriving community of thousands of users. It might not have the user base it did at its peak, but it has certainly left its mark. So much so that Beach House Pictures and JumpStart Games are teaming up to bring a Neopets animated TV series.

The teams plan to cater the animated series to kids ages 8 to 12. As of right now, the show is in its “early stages of development” with a style that’s not quite finalized yet. In fact, they’re currently on the look out for production and broadcast partners to take on the projects.

“[Neopets] is popular across age targets and since the ’90s its fans have identified it as a fun and safe space, and we want to bring that to a new generation of kids,” Beach House Pictures’ creative director Donovan Chan told Kidscreen. “It’s rare to come across a property with global reach, which has a great historical DNA, but is also a blank slate for creatives because it doesn’t already have a series.”

Despite changing hands of ownership the past two decades, JumpStart is determined to kick off another era of Neopets! Well, with the next generation of kids anyway. According to Kidscreen, “The new series is part of JumpStart’s larger plan to revamp the brand this year with a reimagined Neopets website, a new mobile game, and licensed merchandise.”

It sounds like the team has grand plans for Neopets and it doesn’t involve selling your soul to feed your adorable companions omelettes! Are you all for this or nah?
