Dying Light 2 Release Date Officially Delayed
Dying Light 2 has been gearing up for a Spring 2020 launch for a while now, having teased quite the array of content available from release to its lengthy post-launch time period. The zombie survival sequel was surely an awaited highlight of the upcoming season, but it appears that we’ll have to wait a bit longer for the apocalypse as the game has now been officially delayed.
In an announcement over social media (H/T Prima Games), Techland CEO Pawel Marchewka broke the unfortunate development with fans, assuring “it was a busy year” for the team and that Dying Light 2 was considered the “biggest project to date” for the studio. “We know you are awaiting the game eagerly, and we want to deliver exactly what we promised,” the post explained. “We were initially aiming for a Spring 2020 release with Dying Light 2, but unfortunately we need more development time to fulfill our vision.”

Techland did not provide another potential release window for Dying Light 2, but confirmed there will be “more details to share in the coming months” and any updates on release information will appear as they’re made available. “We apologize for this unwelcome news,” the post continued. “Our priority is to deliver an experience that lives up to our own high standards and the expectations of you, our fans.”
Please stay tuned, and thank you to our fans around the world for your continued support, patience, and understanding.”
Dying Light 2 is just the latest in a string of high-profile game delays in 2020, with the likes of Final Fantasy VII, Marvel’s Avengers, and Cyberpunk 2077 each getting moved ahead in the calendar in the last week alone. While this trio of titles each have new release windows, its currently a mystery when Dying Light 2 will eventually make it to launch. However, as this delay is focused on “fulfilling the studio’s vision,” perhaps the end result will be well worth the wait.
