The controversial anime stealth game Yandere Simulator finally has a publisher. The game is about stalking a classmate and doing some pretty messed up things to get to them. The title’s developer has reassured fans it will be completed now, thanks to the newly cemented partnership, and promised they will be happy with the result. The one man creator YandereDev partnered with TinyBuild and in a press release, their CEO Alex Nichiporchik said that their company will put together a development team that will “elevate the game’s production values” and YandereDev will be the Design Lead. The creator posted this video announcing the partnership below:

According to Nichiporchik, TinyBuild will expand the game’s budget by launching a paid alpha and/or a crowdfunding campaign. Thanks to a highly successful YouTube channel and his Patreon, YandereDev already brings in over $5000 a month from his fans. Nichiporchik says that they plan to bring Yandere Simulator across many platforms in the future, including PC, and says that his wife is a fan of the game so, “we can’t mess this one up”. In the video above, YandereDev reassures his fans that TinyBuild will help to fix the inefficient parts and he will retain control over the game, including:

  • Ownership of the Yandere Simulator intellectual property
  • Full creative control
  • Final say on marketing and merchandise
  • TinyBuild can not exploit the game against his wishes
  • No deadlines imposed on the game.

He also said in a blog post,

“This was a very difficult decision to make, because I was very concerned about how the fans would feel about it. However… I honestly see no downside to this partnership. I really hope that you’ll be supportive of this decision!

If you were losing faith in Yandere Simulator’s development, or becoming fearful that the game would never be completed, I hope that this will reassure you. TinyBuild has a history of helping struggling game developers finish their games. With their support, Yandere Simulator is guaranteed to be completed!”

The team behind this title have been developing Yandere Simulator since April of 2014 and fans were getting restless waiting for real progress to be made. He posts regular updates and progress videos, but doesn’t seem close to finishing. He was banned from Twitch in January of 2016 and despite fans being upset, it seems that Twitch may not have been OK with the fact that in Yandere Simulator you can electrocute, poison, stab, drown, kidnap, gag, and torture your rivals in order to push them into either committing suicide or murder. They also may have taken issue with the fact that you can take photos in game of underage girls panties and then send them to other characters, or the fact that you can run around nude, who knows! He also posted this follow up video below.
