New Star Citizen Video Highlights Procedurally Generated Planets (VIDEO)

Star Citizen Video

Cloud Imperium Games’ Star Citizen is the massively multiplayer, space combat simulator exclusive to PC that has been in development hell since its announcement in 2012. With an original releases set for 2014, that has only been delayed again and again. However, the developer has been able to keep fans updated on the game’s progress through various means, including the weekly YouTube show Around the Verse. In the latest Star Citizen video, players get a good look at some of the great features that the game will have to offer, especially the procedurally generated planets.

Hosted by VP of Marketing Sandi Gardiner and Director of SC & S42 Chris Roberts, the Star Citizen video takes fans on a behind-the-scenes tour of what is currently going on to ensure the game is released as soon as possible, which is currently slated for this year. While some of the technical talk can be a little mundane at times, the visuals are absolutely stunning. Before they get to the beautiful planets, however, they first show an update from their UK office, which appears to be working on a bulk of the title. Check it out below:

Once they begin showing their procedurally generated planets technology, it’s difficult not to be drawn into the Star Citizen video. Even though gamers have burned by this type of hype in the past, it’s hard to reserve excitement when you hear Senior Environment Artist Pascal Muller say, “In Star Citizen, there is no such thing as a background. Everything that you see on the screen, you can go to.” Not only does that sound impressive, but the video above shows off how incredible this game just might end up being. Stay tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers to keep updated on Star Citizen news and more, such as the following:
