Bomb Rush Cyberfunk Isn’t Jet Set Radio, But It’s Close (VIDEO)

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk Jet Set Radio

It has been 20 years since Jet Set Radio swept over gamers, winning hearts everywhere with its stylish action and sweet tunes. A sequel arrive two years later, but there hasn’t been a whole lot happening since then with the IP. That said, since Sega isn’t doing anything, another developer has decided to create what appears to be so much of a spiritual successor that it looks like a sequel: Bomb Rush Cyberfunk.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is an upcoming action adventure game that features plenty of stylish characters and graphics, an abundance of graffiti, tricks, dancing, and so much more. Not only did the devs at Team Reptile create a spiritual successor to the classic Jet Set Radio, but they also were able to get the composer from that series, the one and only Hideki Naganuma. Check out the teaser trailer for yourself below:

“In a world from the mind of Dion Koster, where self-styled crews are equipped with personal boostpacks, new heights of graffiti are reached,” reads the Bomb Rush Cyberfunk Steam page. “Start your own cypher and dance, paint, trick, face off with the cops and stake your claim to the extrusions and cavities of a sprawling metropolis in an alternate future set to the musical brainwaves of Hideki Naganuma.”

Needless to say, Sega clearly isn’t giving us a Jet Set Radio sequel, so Team Reptile decided to make their own. Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is currently in development but isn’t expected to arrive until at least 2021.
