Sonic Mania’s Opening Animation Released Ahead of Game’s Launch (VIDEO)

Sonic Mania

Sonic Mania is on its way to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One next week, but Sega was kind enough to gives fans a bit of a treat before it arrives. Recently released on the Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube channel, the opening animation for the upcoming game is bound to fill any gamer with loads of nostalgia. The video gives players a look at what they will be greeted with when they start the title on their platform of choice.

Featuring Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, the Sonic Mania opening animation shows the three dashing around and working together to complete the mission. Much akin to the opening of Sonic CD(now that’s a blast from the past), the animated style is sure to make fans want a new show based on the beloved characters. Check it out for yourself below:

With animation from Tyson Hesse and music from Hyper Potions, the Sonic Mania opening video perfectly blends the new with that sweet nostalgia. The title is set to release on Tuesday, August 15 for Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. While it is still coming to PC, the release has been delayed to August 29. This was recently revealed in a livestream where the collector’s edition was also unboxed. The PC version was delayed due to a need for more optimization. Fans should be able to understand this, considering it is one of the most iconic video game characters in history, and that’s just something that one needs to take their time with.
