NVIDIA Announces Budget Friendly GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti

NVIDIA has announced two new cards that will join the vast sea of GPU’s. The GTX 1050 and the GTX 1050 Ti were engineered and priced with your budget in mind, which is always a plus. Of course, no matter how much you want them to be, these cards aren’t the glory that is the GTX 1080, but is that such a bad thing? I don’t believe it is. Sure, that 1080 is a thing of beauty, and it’s going to get you to where you need to be, but for many, it may seem like overkill. Especially when you consider that $600 price tag.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti - EVGA

The 1050 and 1050 Ti are both built on the Pascal architecture. This is an improvement upon previous budget friendly GPU, the GTX 950, which was built on the Maxwell architecture. While the 1050 boasts a higher base clock speed at 1354 MHz, compared to the 1050 Ti’s 1290 MHz base clock speed, it comes up short in other areas that consumers may deem more important. The 1050 has 2 GB of GDDR5 memory and 640 CUDA cores, whereas the 1050 Ti has 4 GB of GDDR5 memory along with 768 CUDA cores.

“With the GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti, you’ll be able to play today’s most popular games at a smooth 60fps, while sipping a paltry 75 watts of power.”

Did I mention that these cards are quite budget friendly? The GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti start at $109 and $139, respectively. This price point makes it appear as if NVIDIA is looking to challenge the AMD RX 460 and fight it out in the boxing ring of budget GPU’s. Pretty smart move if you ask me. With PC gaming in the state that it is, more and more consumers are either switching to PC or looking to expand upon their current setups. These cards will get the job done. Not to mention, the 1050 and 1050 Ti are going to be able to handle modern games right out of the box, and at great speeds. NVIDIA says, “With the GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti, you’ll be able to play today’s most popular games at a smooth 60fps, while sipping a paltry 75 watts of power.” Great speeds, budget friendly, and energy efficient? If you are looking for the full specs, they can be found here. Speaking of looking…and specs, have you seen the new trailer for the Assassin’s Creed movie? Craziness. Almost as crazy as that segue. Be sure to drop a comment below and share what you think of the GPU’s NVIDIA has announced. Plan on getting one? Still saving for the 1080? Let us know!
