Series Based on Neil Gaiman and Sir Terry Pratchett’s Good Omens Novel Coming to Amazon

Good Omens Novel

It has been 27 years since Neil Gaiman and Sir Terry Pratchett’s collaborative novel Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch was first published. Both authors have tried many times throughout the years following publication to bring the novel to life on both the big and the small screen. Now, the years of persistence has finally paid off for the authors, as a television series based on the Good Omens novel is officially in the works.

A new report from ComingSoon.net has confirmed that Amazon and BBC will be co-producing a new series based on the much beloved novel. The six-episode Good Omens series, scripted entirely by Gaiman, will be premiering exclusively on Amazon Prime Video some time in 2018 before also airing on BBC in the UK. The success of the novel finally gaining a series can be attributed to a posthumous letter that Gaiman received from the late Pratchett, who requested that Gaiman continue their efforts to make a live action Good Omens adaptation. Gaiman expressed his relief and hope for the series by stating:

Almost thirty years ago, Terry Pratchett and I wrote the funniest novel we could about the end of the world, populated with angels and demons, not to mention an eleven-year old Antichrist, witchfinders and the four horsepeople of the Apocalypse. I can’t think of anyone we’d rather make it with than BBC Studios, and I just wish Sir Terry were alive to see it.”

There’s no additional information about the series’ cast or specific premiere date, but fans of the novel should definitely take this news as a Good Omen for the future. What do you guys think?
