Metroid Prime 4 Being Developed By Bandai Namco, Sources Confirm
Though Nintendo surprised the gaming masses when they originally announced Metroid Prime 4, there has been little in terms of official follow-up information about Samus’ next sci-fi adventure. Nintendo have declined to reveal much of anything about the project, including who might be developing the Metroid fourquel. However, a recent report confirms that Bandai Namco is the studio behind the upcoming Nintendo Switch game.
According to Eurogamer, Metroid Prime 4 is being headed by Bandai Namco Studios Singapore in a collaboration with Nintendo. The outlet confirms the news, citing “multiple sources” that can corroborate the information. This is seemingly backed up by previous reports of numerous studio members teasing a “secret” project in the works as well as a number of telling job listings.
If all this turns out to be accurate, it would mean that the original Metroid Prime trilogy studio, Retro Studios, will indeed not be returning to the franchise. Still, Bandai Namco aren’t exactly the worst choice there is, as they’ve previously brought huge success to Nintendo with Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS. More specifically, the Bandai Namco Studios Singapore team is comprised of a few former members of LucasArts Singapore, who developed the infamously cancelled Star Wars 1313 project.
While it would be difficult to convince the most hardened fans of anything, the truth of the matter is that there has not been any significant gameplay revealed regarding Metroid Prime 4. Perhaps judgement should be saved for any such occasion, which could be soon if that rumored February Nintendo Direct actually comes to pass. Metroid Prime 4 is set to release for the Nintendo Switch.
