New IP From Limbo Developer Called Somerville Gets a Short Teaser (VIDEO)

Somerville

The new indie studio Jumpship was founded in collaboration with Limbo developer Dino Patti, who left Playdead back in 2016 over a dispute with that studio’s co-founder. Now, Patti has some new tricks up his sleeve and is acting as Executive Producer to a brand new IP from Jumpship called Somerville.

This is actually the studio’s first game and there isn’t a whole lot of info about it just yet, but this short teaser shows that it will be dark, suspenseful, and odd just like Limbo was. The video below shows the Earth as very creepy, shrill music plays and the camera slowly zooms in before showing a farm house and large barn surrounded by trees in the dark. In the background, tall buildings are shooting light and looming over the countryside. Take a look for yourselves:

At the end, the video shows the website for Somerville, but it doesn’t reveal any more information on the game. Apparently, the idea behind this new IP came from the animator Chris Olsen, who is known for his work on Avengers: Age of Ultron. In an interview, Patti says that Somerville is a “sci-fi action adventure that chronicles the lives of key individuals in the wake of a global catastrophe.” He also clarifies that the game is still in the early stages of conception and there is no set release date or platform just yet.

Based is Guildford, England, Jumpship is currently hiring, but only plans to round their team out to 8 individuals to work on and complete the game. Are you interested in Somerville?
