Developer Will Consider a Possible Witcher 4 in the Future – “We’ve Invested 15 Years of Our Lives” (VIDEO)

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was our beloved Geralt’s last starring role in the series, and the trilogy is complete. However… what if it isn’t? At the most recent management meeting for CD Projekt Red, the executives insisted that a fourth Witcher game can not happen because the series has always been meant as a trilogy, but a Witcher 4 game would only be confusing if it starred Geralt of Rivia.

At first, they discussed how well the series has performed. The franchise has sold over 25 million units throughout the trilogy, and they always hope that each new game they create does better than the one before it. At the end of the meeting, the executives did a Q & A session where one of the men stated:

The Witcher was designed as a trilogy and a trilogy cannot have a fourth part, can it? We like this world a lot. We invested 15 years of our lives in it and a lot of money. So, we’ll think about [making a fourth Witcher game].”

CD Projekt Red has a lot of great projects they are currently working on, including the excitedly awaited Cyberpunk 2077, Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, and another future AAA game. With all that considered, it isn’t likely that a possible Witcher 4 would happen any time soon, but in 2015, Adam Kicinski, the CEO of CD Projekt Red, said it would not be fair to the Witcher fans to NOT make a 4th game. While that may bode well with some, don’t get your hopes up just yet. Marcin Iwinski, the founder of the company, has said that the series “deserves some rest” because “the past 10 years the team has been working on swords and castles and medieval Slavic monsters, so I think it’s time for some guns, androids, and some ammo.” We couldn’t agree more, but we also wouldn’t be mad about some more Witcher booty.
