New Shadow Of The Colossus Video Shows How Truly Stunning The Upcoming Title Is (VIDEO)

Shadow of The Colossus Video

Sony Interactive Entertainment shocked a colossal (get it?) amount of people when it announced the upcoming Shadow of The Colossus Remake back at E3 2017. Helmed by developer Bluepoint Games – the developer studio behind the ICO And Shadow of The Colossus Collection – the 12 year-old PlayStation 2 classic is finally being remade using current-gen graphics, much to the delight of its dedicated fan base. In a new Shadow of The Colossus video released by Sony, Bluepoint Games Art Director Mark Skelton, Co-Founder Marco Thrush, and Technical Director Peter Dalton provide commentary on how they rebuilt the game from the ground up. The video also features some beautiful CGI scenes from the opening cutscene, which can be found below:

During the Shadow of The Colossus video, we hear from Bluepoint Games staff that the remade title was created entirely from scratch, while using the original game as a template. The developers also struggled quite a bit with scale in the game. They knew it was important to get the scale of the title correct, as the environments are supposed to be, while beautiful, extremely large and imposing compared to the protagonist.

To their credit, Bluepoint Games didn’t settle for a simple copy paste job. Many details have been added in to the remake that were not technically possible back in 2005 such as the brand new physics system, which helps control the protagonist’s poncho and “horsetail physics”. The Shadow of The Colossus Remake arrives exclusively on the PlayStation 4 on February 6th, 2018.
