Bethesda Opens Up About The Challenges Of Adapting Skyrim VR (VIDEO)

The announcement of Skyrim VR was met with as much jubilation as relative apathy it seems. Some fans, considering the game to be played out in more ways than one, would prefer Bethesda focused on new titles. For those who are looking forward to the greater immersion into Tamriel that adapting Skyrim VR will bring, Bethesda had some exciting and interesting things to share that can be seen in the video below:

In the video above a few members of the team adapting Skyrim VR spoke briefly about the challenges they faced, and some of the experiences they’ve had. Among the topics up for discussions was the fact that the developers themselves were getting lost in the richer experience. One of them noted that he had gotten sidetracked from a quest staring at bugs crawling on a log.

The height in visual aspects of the game and the immersion described does make the six-year-old title enticing again. One developer commented on having a dragon land on top of him, reflexively flinching and raising his shield to save his own life (not just his game life). From what those who have seen it themselves, adapting Skyrim VR has made for a truly stunning experience.

Moreover, the team has worked hard to make it possible for players to actively use their weapons as if they were actually there. Bows require drawback, spells require casting. Perhaps even more impressive is that the dual wielding is now something that can be split directionally.  Players can cast spells in two directions instead of one now, allowing for more dynamic attacks in creepy Nordic crypts.

Those in possession of a PS4 will be able to jump in on Skyrim VR for the PSVR headset on November 17th. Those who do not have a PS4 will have to wait until sometime in 2018 to enjoy the experience, which looks well worth the wait. Skyrim VR also comes with the DLC packs Dawnguard, Dragonborn, and Hearthfire.
